The third version of the GSX750E got several cosmetic and even
mechanical changes. The rectangular headlight and instruments
were dropped. The round headlight came back and even the meter
housing got more classic look. Modified meters and various
indicator lights. Oil temperature meter now as standard.
The GSX750EZ (E3) engine got hexagon bolts instead of Phillip
screws. Also the clutch cover was redesigned. Turning signals
attachement moved from front fork to headlight. Two signal horns
instead of one. Adjustable rear shock absorbers. Modificated
switches by the left handlebar. New aluminum casted brake master
cylinder.
Last year with the air-cooled engine. The 1983-year's GSX750ES
and GSX750EF models were air/oil-cooled.
Note: The GSX750ES was called GSX750E (without the S) in Japan.

”Early twin shocker needs alloy swinging arm, decent shocks and
Metz tyres to handle well. Mono-shock version better until
linkages wear. 16 valve engine tough until 50k when cam, valve
and alternator hassles. If valve maintenance’s neglected the top
end goes down rapidly. Half or full fairing models. Chassis rot
gets to them eventually, twitchy front end means many were
dropped.”

The girl is very sweet, too. Take a look at the builders site
for more info.
GSX750 Lowrider - 'Under Pressure'
Engine: Suzuki GSX750
Engine Mods: Dynojetted carbs, forced induction system! Dyna-S
electronic ignition
Frame: Rednecks hardtail, powder coated alloy finish
Front End: ZZR600 forks, yokes & clip-ons, GSXR Tacho
Rear End: n/a

Suzuki GSX750ES and GSX750EF1983—1987
1983 Suzuki year code: D
The GSX750ES, introduced in 1983 (called GSX750E in Japan), was
based on the naked GSX750E. Like its naked borther, the GSX750ES
got the air and oil-cooled 16-valve engine with 84 hp (72 ps in
Japan). The new GSX750 line was the smallest, lightest and
smoothest of Suzuki's 750cc machines so far. Almost everything
on the bike was new, including the cylinder head and the frame.
The new 747cc engine shared only the cylinder measurements with
its precessor (63 mm bore, 53 mm stroke. It weigh 16,8 kg (37
lbs) less than the '82 GSX750 engine. Even the exhaust system
was made 5,3 kg (11,7 lbs) lighter. The new engine was even
shorter, narrower and lower than its precessor.
The maximum power output had increased from 81 to 86 hp by
enlargening the valves, increasing the compression ratio and
re-designing the cam shafts, exhaust system and the air filter
box. Comparing with modern engines, the GSX750ES engine don't
impress with its low-rev torque, but the older version of the
engine had even less torque.
The GSX750ES had a 16-inch front wheel (100/90-16) for quicker
steering and a 17-inch rear wheel (120/90-17). The craddle type
frame was welded using steel pipes and profiles and the light
alloy rear swing was an oil-damped Full-floater. An top fairing
was mounted on the ES model.
The GSX750ES proved to be a fantastic bike for its time. It was
sporty, fast and practical. It was easy to manouvre and good for
speeds over 200 kph. In many countries it was the best-selling
Suzuki in 1983. In Sweden it was actually the best selling bike
of the year, period.
An eight-page Japanese sales brochure can be found on the
GSX750E brochures
page.

история модели
The
GSX750F was the last of the four GSX-F sport tourers that Suzuki
introduced in the eighties. The models released earlier were
GSX-F (400cc), GSX600F and GSX1100F.
Although the specifications of the model haven't been radically
changed between the release and the total facelift in 1998 it
would have been difficult to determinate the model year of the
GSX750F if Suzuki hdn't updated the paint job. The model got new
graphics every year in Japan, but older models have been sold on
some markets as new. For instance, the Japanese 1988-year's
model was sold in Sweden as a new model in 1989.
The GSX-F models were for some reason called Katanas in USA and
Canada. The GSX-S Katana models were called ”original Katanas”
after the introduction of the F models.

Due
to the over whelming success of the 1100 Kat, Suzuki released a 750
machine, which to look at was almost identical to its larger brother. By
1983 they felt that some subtle changes were needed to keep pace with
competition, on the technology front. Hence the mark II Katana was
released. These had 16 inch front and 17 inch rear wheels and the power
was upped to about 72hp, but to look at, it was near enough identical to
its predecessor.
By 1985 Suzuki felt that the 750 Kat was due for an overhaul again and so
the mark III version was born. This was a completely new model, not just
a face-lift. Although it was designed by Suzuki themselves, it still
kept the Hans Muth lines. Mechanically the engine had been replaced by
the new 16-value unit from the GSX750E, and developed about 84 bhp. The
running gear now had the Suzuki Full Floater suspension rear end and
Positive Damping Forks at the front. Probably most noticeable of all
however was the new fairing which now had a retractable (pop-up)
headlight which helped give it an even sharper front end than the
previous models.
The following info from Howie Drake, gives a little more
insight into the different types of GSX750SE Katana in the UK (as far as
he has been able to ascertain):
Ex Japan - Detuned from the
standard GSX750ES, due to Japanese 750cc bhp limit, so only puts out
about 70 bhp. You can tell these due to the Japanese warning light that
illuminates if you go over 50 mph, replaced by a side stand warning
light on non Japanese model. Suzuki UK imported approx. 75 of these as a
special import.
Ex South Africa & Australia
tuned from the standard GSX750ES with stage two cams and bigger carbs
(although these have smaller main jets than the standard GSX750ES).
These are supposed to be about 90 bhp and Suzuki UK imported 33 of
these along with the Japanese model for their limited import - my bike is
one of these...
The rest of the models you see are as far as I know grey
imports.
(Michael Cane interesting fact)
Although the 750 Kat was officially brought into the UK by Suzuki (about
100 bikes), it was never designed to be. Hence the speedo is in kph.
These official ones however have a mph sticker added but the mileage
still reads km's. (Not a lot of people know
that!)

1981 GSX750S Katana. The model with a
windshield was called GSX750SS Katana.
1981 Suzuki year code: X
Late in 1981, after the introduction of the exciting GSX1000S,
Suzuki released an almost identical 750 cc version of the Katana
(meaning Sword in English). The engine was taken from the
GSX750E.
The 1981 GSX750SX and 1982 GSX750SD were identical exept for the
colors. For domestic market in Japan, the model without the
windscreen (see the picture above) was called GSX750S and the
one with a screen was called SS. At first the Katana was only
available for the home market in Japan, 1982 it came in Europe.
The Japanese model had 69 hp/ 8.500 rpm, 6,2 kg-m/ 7.000 rpm.
I have given the European unrestricted power figures for all of
the models on this page. The Japanese models had first 69 bhp,
the 1983 model had 72 bhp and the later models
77 bhp.

The 1984 year's GSX750SE was a completely new model, not just a
facelift. It was designed by Suzuki engineers in Japan but it
still kept the original Hans Muth lines. The engine had been
replaced by the new oil-cooled 16-valve unit from the GSX750E/ES/EF,
and developed 90 unrestricted bhp. It had the Suzuki Full
Floater suspension rear end and Positive Damping Forks at the
front. Probably the most noticeable of all however was the new
fairing which now had a retractable (pop-up) headlight which
helped give it an even sharper front end than the previous
models.
The frame and parts of the wheels were colored gold and the
black painted engine had also gold paint on the cam end covers
and engine sides. For domestic market in Japan, the model code
was GSX750S-3. The Japanese model had 77 hp/ 9.000 rpm, 63 Nm
(6,4 kg-m)/ 7.500 rpm.

1985 Suzuki year code: F
1985 was the last year of the GSX750S. Only cosmetic changes
were made, the gold paint had been used only for the wheels. The
model was very short-lived. For domestic market in Japan, the
model code was GSX750S-4, GSX750SF in Europe.
The model was available in some parts of the world under the
model name Shark but I need more information about it before I
can tell you more. I'm guessing the specs are the same for the
Katana and the Shark.
